You may notice an eye twitch during particularly stressful periods, such as exams, busy workdays, family problems, or major changes in your routine.
Interestingly, the twitch itself can then become another source of stress. You notice your eyelid moving, worry about it, and become more focused on the sensation.
What can help?
Simple relaxation techniques may be useful. Taking a walk, stretching, spending some time away from screens, practicing slow breathing, or doing something enjoyable can help you unwind.
Reducing stress may not stop the twitch immediately, but it can remove one of the factors that may be contributing to it.
3. Too Much Caffeine
Coffee, tea, energy drinks, cola, and other caffeinated beverages can stimulate the nervous system.
For some people, consuming a lot of caffeine may make muscle twitching more noticeable. If you regularly consume caffeine throughout the day and suddenly begin experiencing eyelid fluttering, it may be worth considering whether there is a connection.
